"Running back Cedric Benson, who will be an unrestricted free agent, had his scheduled trial for assault in Travis County court postponed until Aug. 29 after his attorneys asked for more time in preparing for their case.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Sam Bassett, one of Benson's lawyers, asked for the postponement so he could review some evidence he received only recently from prosecutors. The delay also gives both sides to talk about a possible plea deal."
