" CC Sabathia 's dominance of the Brewers Thursday served as the perfect snapshot of what the Yankees have been doing to National League teams for the past two weeks. And now they will try to continue their interleague assault against the Mets at Citi Field .
Sabathia tied a career-high with 13 strikeouts, leading the Yankees to a 5-0 win over the Brewers at the Stadium to finish off a three-game sweep of the NL Central leaders.
"This was a big game and a big series," Sabathia said. "These guys are in first place, they're a really good-hitting team and we pitched well against them. We wanted to finish it off today and we were able to do that."
BOX SCORE: YANKEES 5, BREWERS 0
Sabathia became the first Yankee to whiff 13 batters in a game since Roger Clemens in 2002 and the first Bomber lefty to record that many strikeouts in a game since David Wells in 1998.
Sabathia joined Detroit 's Justin Verlander - who beat the Mets Thursday - as the only 11-game winners in the majors, becoming the first pitcher since Tom Seaver to win 11 games or more in each of his first 11 seasons.
"Eleven wins at this point and the season's not even quite half over," Joe Girardi said. "He's had a brilliant year for us.""
