"Chris Carpenter downplayed any issues with his elbow and said he would be starting Game 1 of the World Series against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.

"My elbow's fine," Carpenter said. "Tony and Dunc wouldn't be throwing me out there if I wasn't. I'm fine for Wednesday."
