"Steve Smith of the Panthers has had a lot on his mind this offseason that is completely unrelated to trade rumors.

Speaking at his football camp Friday, Smith said that he briefly considered retirement when his wife was ill this offseason, according to Steve Reed of the Gaston Gazette. Smith said it was a "scary time" and they believed his wife had Lupus, but she is fine now and he plans to play in 2011.
