The 49ers practiced without cornerback Carlos Rogers on Wednesday because of a hamstring injury, but the team is hoping he’ll be able to go on Thursday.

That was the word from defensive coordinator Vic Fangio when he met with the media before the practice session got underway. Fangio also said, via Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, that the injury was “not as bad” as the team feared when Rogers went down in Week 17.

Rogers, who has started every game over the last three seasons, said earlier this week that he was taking things day by day and that he wasn’t ruling himself out. If he’s able to get through practice without further trouble from his hamstring, Rogers would stand a very good chance of starting yet another game for the 49ers this weekend.
