Carlos Gonzalez flew back to Venezuela on Saturday following the death of his grandfather Eduardo Guerra. He was placed on the bereavement list, leaving him eligible to rejoin the Rockies on Tuesday in New York. A player, however, can remain on the list for up to seven days.

"I will always remember (him). RIP," Gonzalez tweeted this morning.

Charlie Blackmon replaced Gonzalez on the 25-man roster. If he plays over the next few days it will be in the corner outfield spots, manager Jim Tracy said. Blackmon was a strong candidate to make the Rockies in spring training but lost ground to Tyler Colvin when he suffered a turf toe injury. Blackmon has hit .303 with 28 extra-base hits in 228 at-bats for Triple-A Colorado Springs.
