"Giants right fielder Carlos Beltran felt a sharp pain on the top of his right hand as he struck out in the sixth inning. He exited before the start of the eighth, went for X-rays that showed no structural damage and is questionable to play Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Beltran said he felt weakness in his hand as he tried to take swings in an indoor cage, so he and trainers decided to play it safe.
"I'm not going to worry about it, but I can't wait till tomorrow," Beltran said. "If I can swing the bat and compete, then I want to be out there. If not, I need to be safe."
The Giants have gone 3-8 since sacrificing top pitching prospect Zack Wheeler to acquire Beltran from the Mets before the trade deadline, and there was a smattering of boos when he grounded into a double play in the first inning."
