Career revival for Andruw Jones?

"Andruw Jones was once a longshot to make the Texas Rangers. Now that slugging outfielder Josh Hamilton has hit the disabled list with an abdominal strain, Jones' role is about to increase.

The 10-time Gold Glover and five-time All-Star with the Braves appears to be reviving his career. He's hitting a respectable .282 with 5 homers, 14 RBIs and 9 doubles in just 85 at-bats.

"Andruw might be the one we need to step up," manager Ron Washington told the Dallas Morning News. The Rangers also recalled Brandon Boggs from their AAA club.

After being released by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Jones signed a minor-league deal with the Rangers in February. At the time, GM Jon Daniels called him "an interesting reclamation project."

Since then, the 32-year-old center fielder with 374 career homers has gotten into much better shape. He's posted a .415 on-base percentage and is slugging .565."
