Tight end Rob Housler practiced on Wednesday for the first time this regular season and the Cardinals expect him to play on Sunday against the Saints.

Housler who suffered a high ankle sprain in the preseason was listed as “limited” on Wednesday’s injury report but said before practice that he planned to participate fully.

“If anything you’ve got to push it” he said. “You’ve got to trust it and go out there and play.”

Coach Bruce Arians is curious to see how Housler’s ankle holds up.

“It’s one thing running — he can run — it’s another thing pushing against big bodies with those ankles. You never know how that’s going to turn out.”

Receiver Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) was held out of practice by Arians.

“He wants to practice; I’m not letting him” Arians said. “I do not want him aggravating that again. We’ll take that day to day.”

Fitzgerald is capable of missing practice all week and playing on Sunday. Not all players are Arians said.

“You better have a resume” Arians said. “We fortunately have one that has a pretty good resume.”

Running back Rashard Mendenhall (toe) did not practice on Wednesday. The severity of that injury is unknown.

Linebacker Kevin Minter suffered a hamstring injury last Sunday against the Lions and is doubtful for the Saints game.

For the Saints the following starters did not practice: nose tackle Brodrick Bunkley (calf) guard Jahri Evans (hamstring) and safety Roman Harper (knee).
