Cardinals expected to sign quarterback Brodie Croyle

"Former Kansas City QB Brodie Croyle is expected to sign with the Cardinals, a sign that backups John Skelton (ankle) and Max Hall (left shoulder) could be questionable for Saturday's game against the Chargers.

Skelton didn't practice on Monday after suffering a right ankle sprain in last Friday's game against Green Bay. Hall suffered his injury in practice on Monday. I don't know the extent of Hall's injury Coach Ken Whisenhunt will be available to reporters in about an hour, so I'll add more in a hour.

Without Skelton and Hall, the Cardinals would have entered Saturday's game with just two quarterbacks, Kevin Kolb and Rich Bartel. That's a risky proposition in preseason.

Signing Croyle makes sense. He spent five years with the Chiefs, including two under Todd Haley, the former Cardinals offensive coordinator under Whisenhunt. The similarities in offense should make Croyle's learning curve less steep."
