Cardinals' Anquan Boldin doesn't practice, status still iffy

"Anquan Boldin didn't participate in practice Thursday, and his status for Saturday's NFC divisional playoff game at New Orleans is uncertain.

"Everything is the same, nothing has really changed," said Boldin, who hasn't practiced in two weeks since suffering left ankle and knee injuries in the regular-season finale against Green Bay.

"It's better than it was a couple days ago, though, so I'm optimistic."

Boldin is continuing to get treatment in hopes of playing against the Saints, but he is likely to be a game-time decision, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said.

But can a player who hasn't practiced in two weeks be an active part of the offensive packages the Cardinals plan to roll out at the Louisiana Superdome?

"With as much three- and four-wide receiver sets as we do, he can certainly contribute, yes, and be part of packages," Whisenhunt said. "I wouldn't think he would go 60 snaps in a game, but more of like what he did in New York."

Playing in a condensed role with an ankle injury Oct. 25 at the Giants, Boldin caught three passes for 75 yards, including a 44-yard catch and run that led to a field goal in Arizona's 24-17 win.

Meanwhile, inside linebacker Gerald Hayes (ankle) also didn't practice this week, and if he can't play, Monty Beisel likely would replace him. Boldin and Hayes were the only Cardinals who didn't participate at least on a limited basis in practice Thursday.

For the Saints, defensive tackle Rodney Leisle (knee) did not practice Thursday, and receiver Lance Long (ankle) and cornerback Malcolm Jenkins (hamstring) were limited."
