Heading into Wednesday night's game with the St. Louis Blues, there were any number of reasons to believe the Vancouver Canucks were about to shake off their early season malaise.

For starters, they'd mailed it in the night before in Edmonton and there should have been some guilty consciences in their locker room. David Booth, the much-ballyhooed acquisition from Florida, was also making his home-ice debut. And, most importantly, the St. Louis Blues had been in town for a couple of days and were vulnerable to what social anthropologists have come to term the Roxy Effect.
