"The Vancouver Canucks have acquired the rights to restricted free agent left winger Mike Duco from the Florida Panthers in exchange for the rights of Sergei Shirokov.

Duco, 24, had 20 goals, 31 points and 126 penalty minutes in 67 games with the AHL's Rochester Americans last season. He had 10 penalty minutes in two games with Florida.

Duco is described as hard-nosed, but at 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds is not an especially big player."
