"The Montreal Canadiens have signed Erik Cole to a four-year contract worth $18 million.
Cole has spent the majority of his career with the Carolina Hurricanes, the team that drafted him in the third round, 71st overall of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
The six-foot-two winger originally played for the Hurricanes from 2001-2008 before being dealt to the Edmonton Oilers where he spent less than one season before being shipped back to Carolina.
Cole had his best season offensive season with 61 points in the 2006-2007 season.
He was also a member of the Hurricanes' 2005-2006 Stanley Cup winning team, a season where he scored a career-high 30 goals. "
