The Montreal Canadiens have acquired forward PA Parenteau from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Daniel Briere and the Canadiens' fifth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Briere lasted just one season with the Habs after signing a two-year, $8 million contract with the team this off-season.

The 36-year-old Briere scored 13 goals and added 12 assists in 69 games with Montreal in 2013-14.

Originally selected 24th overall by the then-Phoenix Coyotes at the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Briere has scored 299 goals and 385 assists in 916 career NHL games with the Coyotes, Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers.
