Justin Cobbs helped the host Golden Bears avoid a regular-season sweep by the upset-minded Trojans with a game-high 22 points in Pac-12 play.

Ricky Kreklow finished with 12 points and Tyrone Wallace had 10 for California (18-9, 9-5). Jabari Bird contributed 10 points off the bench and David Kravish had nine points, 10 rebounds and tied a career high with five blocks.

Pe'Shon Howard paced USC (10-17, 1-13) with 17 points and J.T. Terrell added 14. Nikola Jovanovic scored 14 points and grabbed six boards while Julian Jacobs chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

USC closed out the first half with 11 points from Howard and an 11-3 run inside of five minutes to secure a 30-27 edge at the break. The Trojans extended their lead to six in the opening three minutes of the second half but California responded with an 11-0 run for a 41-36 advantage at the 15:22 mark.

The Golden Bears ignited a third 11-0 run inside of eight minutes to make it 64-56 and a triple from Bird made it a double-digit lead with 3:06 remaining. California poured it on down the stretch and the Trojans were held to two points in the final two minutes in their eighth straight loss.
