Burress, Holmes, NY Jets receivers could feast on Oakland Raiders secondary

"Raiders' owner Al Davis' Commitment to Excellence has been more like a Commitment to the Past, filled with archaic philosophies that haven't yielded very many positive results for the better part of a decade.

When the Jets make the cross-country trip to Oakland this weekend, Mark Sanchez & Co. will have an opportunity to take advantage of an in-your-face, relatively simplistic defensive scheme that was exposed last week. Gang Green will face a defense that gave up 35 second-half points in an epic meltdown to the Bills.

Jets' wide receivers, who were held to only four catches for 49 yards in a blowout win over the Jaguars last Sunday, could feast on an Oakland scheme that predominantly features man-to-man coverage with one safety in the deep middle of the field.

"If you're a wide receiver, these are the kinds of games you love to play in," said Plaxico Burress, who was held without a catch last week. "Up close and personal. Man to man. Mano a mano to see who is the better guy.""
