Bulls trade up in NBA draft for Real Madrid forward

"A suburban power outage might have moved the Bulls' draft headquarters from the Berto Center to the United Center, but the unmistakable aroma smell of team Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf's cigar smoke travels everywhere.

Turns out the Bulls were blowing smoke about using both of their first-round picks in the NBA draft for next season's roster spots as well.

After being rebuffed all week in their attempts to package picks Nos. 28 and 30 to move up, the Bulls finally succeeded Thursday night, sending their 28th and 43rd picks and cash to the Timberwolves for the draft rights to Montenegro forward Nikola Mirotic, who was picked 23rd.

The Timberwolves had acquired that pick from the Rockets in a draft-day trade involving picks and former Bull Brad Miller moving to Minnesota and Jonny Flynn heading to Houston.

The Bulls then used the final pick of the first round to draft Marquette swingman Jimmy Butler at 30."
