"It wasn't a pretty sight.
Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph fell to the court, rolled around and writhed in pain while he clutched his right knee late in the first quarter. Teammate O.J. Mayo had just missed a layup and fell into Randolph's legs, wiping out the Grizzlies' most valuable big man.
After several minutes, Randolph finally rose to his feet Sunday night but walked gingerly to the locker room and out of the game with a bruised right knee.
And just when you thought things couldn't possibly get any uglier, Randolph's teammates worked hard at making that so.
The Griz were destroyed by the Chicago Bulls, suffering an embarrassing 104-64 defeat in the United Center.
Unfortunately for the Griz, Randolph's condition could possibly make the loss sting even longer.
"It's sore and it's swollen," Randolph said, hobbling after the game. "I'm going to have an MRI or X-rays (today). Hopefully, it's not too bad."
While Randolph had an excuse not to return, his teammates looked as though they wanted permission slips to leave for the next three quarters. This game was so lopsided that it took reserve center Josh Davis' put-back basket with six seconds left for the Griz (1-3) to avoid tying a franchise-low for points."
