Bucs safety Dashon Goldson will play Sunday against the Patriots after his one-game suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit in Sunday's loss to the Saints was overturned in an appeal a team official confirmed to the Times' Rick Stroud on Wednesday morning.

Instead of a suspension Goldson faces a fine of $100000 according to NFL Network's Ian Rapaport. Goldson's return keeps the Bucs secondary at full strength as they travel to face Tom Brady and a challenging Patriots offense. The Bucs lead the NFL in penalty yards and Goldson already has been flagged separately for a personal foul and for unnecessary roughness.

Goldson who was fined $30000 for another hit against the Jets had been suspended for one game Monday and the league sent him a letter saying he "made no attempt whatsoever to wrap up your opponent or make a conventional tackle on the play. This illegal contact clearly could have been avoided."
