Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson was fined $30000 by the NFL the league office announced Friday.

Goldson was reprimanded for "unnecessarily striking a defenseless player in the head and neck area" during the second quarter of last Sunday's 18-17 loss to the New York Jets. Goldson was called for a personal foul for his hit on New York tight end Jeff Cumberland.

The league also confirmed Tampa Bay linebacker Lavonte David was fined $7875 for hitting Jets quarterback Geno Smith out of bounds. Bucs safety Mark Barron wasn't fined for his hit on wide receiver Jeremy Kerley who suffered a concussion on the play.
