"Antonio Bryant left the season-opener against Dallas early because of knee fatigue.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Antonio Bryant is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game at Buffalo after missing consecutive days of practice.
Bryant is recovering from preseason knee surgery, but took a step backward in his recovery.
"Right now, he's doubtful for this game," Coach Raheem Morris said today. "He could possibly show up and be a force, like [No.] 89 would do. I just don't like talking about injuries in general, because it's a gray matter.
"If he's not there, we've got to deal. We've got figure out how to win without him. If he is there, we'll be happy and excited and let him play."
When a player is classified as doubtful, there is a 75 percent chance he will not play.
Bryant had arthroscopic surgery in early August to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He left the season-opening game against Dallas early because of knee fatigue but said afterward he expected to play at Buffalo.
Morris does not believe Bryant did anything to further damage the knee, but said the receiver is dealing with soreness.
"I'm not getting any vibes of reaggravation. I'm not getting any vibes of something new," Morris said. "Whatever it is, as a coach, I don't get into what it is or how it is. I just lean on my trainers and doctors."
If Bryant cannot play, Tampa Bay will lean heavily on receiver Michael Clayton, who had five receptions for 93 yards last week. Morris would not reveal whether Brian Clark, Maurice Stovall or Sammie Stroughter would start Sunday in Bryant's absence but added he expected to rely more on tight ends Kellen Winslow and Jerramy Stevens, plus Tampa Bay's running game.
In other injury news, cornerback E.J. Biggers (shoulder) and center Jeff Faine (triceps) will not play; defensive end Kyle Moore (groin) and tight end John Gilmore (ankle) are questionable, while safety Jermaine Phillips (calf) is probable.
Buffalo's top cornerback, Terrence McGee, is questionable for the game after missing practice because of back spasms. He developed the spasms this morning after practicing all this week. If McGee can't play Sunday, Ashton Youboty would likely take his place."
