Bucks' Jennings studies future markets

"Brandon Jennings is starting to think about his future and whether it will include the Milwaukee Bucks.

It's not a decision the Bucks point guard has to make right now in just his third season in the National Basketball Association.

But he will have an opportunity to sign a long-term extension with the Bucks this summer. If he doesn't, it could create speculation about where he ultimately wants to go and if the Bucks should trade him.

Fresh off an all-star snub Thursday, Jennings said he would have "a major chip" on his shoulder the rest of the lockout-shortened season as he tries to carry the Bucks into the playoffs.

The 22-year-old knows if he can lead the Bucks to the postseason for the second time in three years, it will only increase his value. He has watched the trend of smaller-market players moving to bigger markets, including LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul.

But he said Friday at the Bucks' morning shoot-around that his plans are still quite uncertain and that he has not ruled out staying in Milwaukee.

In a recent interview with ESPN columnist Chris Broussard, Jennings said: "I'm going to keep my options open, knowing that the time is coming up.

"I'm doing my homework on big-market teams."

Of course, one of those big-market teams, the New York Knicks, passed on Jennings with the eighth pick in the 2009 draft. The Bucks picked Jennings 10th and he became an instant starter while playing in 89 games his rookie year, including seven playoff games against Atlanta."
