The Bruins signed Jordan Caron to a one-year, one-way contract worth $600,000 yesterday.

The deal is less than what his qualifying offer would have been, but that would have been a two-way deal, which meant he could have been sent down to Providence, where he would have received a lower AHL salary.

The B’s first-round draft pick in 2009, the 23-year-old Caron has not yet been able to live up to his pedigree. He has 12 goals and 16 assists in 123 NHL games and was the B’s 13th forward most of last season, filling in for injured players whenever needed. He had a goal and two assists in 35 games.
