Nets center Brook Lopez underwent surgery this morning to remove bone mass and calcium deposits from his upper right arm, according to a release provided by the team.

The Nets say Lopez's arm will be in a sling for a week, and the 7-footer will begin rehabilitation in two weeks. He should be able to return to basketball activities in six weeks, the team said, calling the surgery successful.

"Brook was bothered this year by a bony lump that developed after he was hit in the arm early this year,'' Nets team orthopedist Riley Williams III said in the press release. "The mass was removed today. A full recovery is expected.''
