The Denver Broncos will kick off 2017 in primetime.

Citing a "league network" source, 9News' Mike Klis reports the Broncos are expected to open the season at home against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.

This will be the seventh consecutive year the Broncos open in the friendly confines of Mile High. Last year, in a rematch of Super Bowl 50, they defeated the Carolina Panthers in the season opener, 21-20.

The Broncos split their divisional series against the rival Chargers in 2016 -- winning at home and losing on the road -- en route to a 9-7 finish and their first non-playoff campaign since 2010.
