"Washington Redskins outside linebacker Brian Orakpo had surgery to repair his left shoulder on Tuesday.

Orakpo, who suffered an injury to his left shoulder and pectoral muscle in the season finale against Philadelphia, had the surgery done in Pensacola, Fla. The player announced the news on his Twitter account Tuesday evening.

"Just had successful shoulder surgery in Pensacola," the tweet read. "[T]hanks everybody for their support! Now time for a speedy recovery HTTR!""
