"Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards wasn't in court Monday, but he will need to show up July 22 for his trial on drunk-driving charges.
The free agent, who faces up to a year behind bars if convicted, allegedly had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit as he left a party in September.
Edwards allegedly reeked of liquor when he was arrested shortly before sunrise Sept. 21 while driving an SUV with two teammates as passengers.
His lawyer, Peter Frankel, said after a pretrial hearing Monday he will challenge the Breathalyzer results and other evidence. He added that, "We're always talking about possible resolutions."
Frankel said he will challenge claims by cops they had probable cause to arrest his client - and he will try to get statements his client made to cops tossed."
