In search of stability with the front office in disarray, the Braves announced Thursday they have picked up manager Brian Snitker's option for 2018.

That decision will buy some time for president of baseball operations John Hart and team president John Schuerholz to focus on finding a replacement for general manager John Coppolella, who resigned Monday amid an MLB investigation into the Braves' international signing practices.

Though Hart told reporters earlier in the week that the manager decision and the problems on the baseball operations side were two distinct issues, the Braves can move forward knowing exactly what they have in Snitker, who has worked for the franchise in one capacity or another for four decades.
