"The Washington Redskins have cut cornerback D.J. Johnson and replaced him on the 53-man roster with rookie cornerback Brandyn Thompson, who has spent much of this season bouncing back and forth between the practice squad and the official roster, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed Tuesday night.

It is the fourth stint on the 53-man roster for Thompson, the team's seventh-round pick out of Boise State. Thompson most recently was waived by the Redskins on Nov. 8 to make room for Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 198-pound Jackson State product who had appeared in five games in his career, but never suited up for Washington."
