"Right-hander Brandon Webb's season effectively ended Wednesday without him throwing a pitch for the Rangers.
An MRI on Webb's right shoulder revealed new damage to his rotator cuff, on which he had a surgical procedure in 2009. Webb is considering either a second surgery or the possibility of a more conservative approach. The Rangers do not expect him to pitch this year.
The Rangers gave Webb a $3 million contract this off-season, betting that he'd return to the form that made him one of the National League's most dominant starters from 2006 to 2008. He hurt the shoulder on opening day in 2009 and hasn't pitched in the majors since."
