"Right-hander Brandon Webb's days with the Diamondbacks appeared to come to an end Sunday as multiple reports indicated that he had agreed to a one-year, incentive-laden deal with the Texas Rangers.

Webb anchored the Diamondbacks rotation for parts of six seasons, winning a Cy Young in 2006 and finishing runner-up for the award the next two seasons. He was a key piece to the 2007 team that advanced the National League Championship Series.

But he has missed all but one game in the past two seasons due to a shoulder injury that required surgery in 2009. He tried to work his way back this past season but was never able to build the requisite arm strength to compel the Diamondbacks to start him.

The Rangers have long coveted Webb; sources say they tried to trade for him multiple times during his Diamondbacks tenure."
