"Right-hander Brandon Webb threw another 60-pitch session of "live" batting practice Sunday morning against minor leaguers and said he was "surprisingly happy" with it.

That said, Webb also acknowledged he would not open the season on the Rangers' roster. He said the club has plans for him to break camp with the team and continue throwing sessions and simulated games with Mike Maddux early in the season in between rehab starts for either Double-A Frisco or Triple-A Round Rock. It sounds like late April or early May remains the most logical target.

Webb said he had a little trouble getting loose during his bullpen and long-toss sessions that preceded the BP session, but that when he got on the mound to face hitters, he was able to more freely let the ball go. "
