"Saturday was cut-down day in the NFL. Sunday the Bengals continued revamping their roster in preparation for next weekend's season opener at Cleveland.
Three players were claimed on waivers, including wide receiver/kick returner Brandon Tate from New England, while three veterans were released.
"I know we'll be a better football team than the 4-12 team," said head coach Marvin Lewis on Sunday. "There's not the star-power on paper that maybe we possessed last year, but when it comes down to it, I think we'll all be all-in, and they'll be all in together. And that's the biggest statement we can make heading into the regular season."
The Bengals were also awarded tight end Mickey Shuler (Miami) and offensive guard Mike McGlynn (Philadelphia) on waivers. Arizona and the New York Jets also put in claims for Tate, while St. Louis, Indianapolis and Baltimore put in claims to acquire McGlynn."
