Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman started the season envisioning a backcourt duo of Ricky Rubio and Brandon Roy someday.
Someday, apparently, won't be this weekend.
Roy, sidelined since early November, worked out hard Thursday, Dec. 27, but skipped practice Friday for personal reasons. Adelman said he doubts Roy will play Saturday night against the Phoenix Suns at Target Center but said he's not aware of any physical setbacks in Roy's recovery from Nov. 19 arthroscopic surgery.
"All I know is 'personal reasons,' " Adelman said.
Rubio began the season rehabbing from reconstructive knee surgery. The Phoenix game will be his sixth of the season.
When both are healthy, they should complement each other.
"They're both proven players," Adelman said. "They both have special skills."
