Brandon Roy, Marcus Camby will not play Sunday against Detroit

"No big shock here, but Brandon Roy and Marcus Camby will not play Sunday when the Trail Blazers visit the Detroit Pistons.

Both players went through an extensive pregame warmup Friday, before the Blazers defeated the Toronto Raptors, as they continue to work their way back from separate knee surgeries. And both players took baby steps toward a return.

Roy, who had arthroscopic surgery on both of his knees Jan. 17, played a lot of one-on-one against rookie forward Luke Babbitt in the pregame session. He occasionally had to take a seat court side to catch his breath, but Roy seemed to play without discomfort and flashed a lot of the moves we've grown accustomed to seeing over the years.

After the game, I asked Roy if there had been any change in his status for Sunday's game at the Palace of Auburn Hills and he said, "No." Roy says he is ready to return, but he's awaiting clearance from Blazers coach Nate McMillan and general manager Rich Cho.

I jokingly told him it looked like he was breathing too heavily after the one-on-one workouts with Babbitt and he laughed and said: "You would be too if you hadn't played in two months."

Meanwhile, Camby, who had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Jan. 20, went through a lengthy individual session with assistant coach Buck Williams. He worked extensively on his jump shot and a variety of post moves before running a few baseline sprints."
