Reds manager Dusty Baker said last night he expects second baseman Brandon Phillips (mild left calf strain) to miss a few games, after Phillips left the game early during Tuesday's 7-6 victory over the San Diego Padres.

However, Phillips told reporters late Tuesday the injury could be worse than mild.

Phillips told's Mark Sheldon, "I'm not going to be playing for a while. [Reds doctor Tim Kremchek] looked at it and he said it was worse than what they expected. I didn't know. I just knew it felt bad. I just feel like I let people down, especially because we're in first place and the race is really close. You already have one person out, so I don't want to be the person coming out. It just really [stinks]."
