Reds manager Dusty Baker said last night he expects second baseman Brandon Phillips (mild left calf strain) to miss a few games, after Phillips left the game early during Tuesday's 7-6 victory over the San Diego Padres.

However, Phillips told reporters late Tuesday the injury could be worse than mild.

Phillips told Reds.com's Mark Sheldon, "I'm not going to be playing for a while. [Reds doctor Tim Kremchek] looked at it and he said it was worse than what they expected. I didn't know. I just knew it felt bad. I just feel like I let people down, especially because we're in first place and the race is really close. You already have one person out, so I don't want to be the person coming out. It just really [stinks]."
