Bradshaw may join Giants backfield with broken foot

"Don't count Ahmad Bradshaw out just yet.

The Giants' top tailback has a cracked bone in his right foot, and he hasn't practiced all week. But there is still a slight chance he suits up against the Patriots on Sunday, and he is definitely not heading for the operating table.

"The doctors felt that it wouldn't be necessary for him to have surgery right now," Tom Coughlin said.

Bradshaw is listed as doubtful for Sunday. It seems unlikely he will play, but Coughlin conceded that the tailback could "possibly" be a game-time decision if the injured foot takes a leap forward today.

"He has to do some improving," Coughlin said, "but (a game-time-decision is) possible."

Surgery, however, will not happen. Bradshaw plans to gut the pain out, just as he did in 2009, when he played eight of the last nine games with broken bones in both feet. Bradshaw already has screws in both feet, and Coughlin indicated that those screws were not causing him pain.

"The surgical screw is fine," Coughlin said. "That part is not the problem. It is in that area, but it is not on top of the screw or anything to do with that. That screw doesn't have to come out.""
