After being selected No. 15 overall in the 2013 MLB draft, Braden Shipley, the University of Nevada pitcher and former North Medford High School star, is being viewed as a possible steal by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In the last three years, Shipley rapidly shot his way up the draft boards with his electric arm, including a fastball that tops out at 98 mph. At Nevada, Shipley owned a 17-7 record with a career ERA of 2.77 and 203 total strikeouts in 216 innings pitched. He is the highest drafted player in the history of Nevada athletics.

As Shipley describes, he has three pitches he feels confident with: "I have a good fastball and I have three pitches that I can command well. I feel I'm just going to get better, get stronger, hopefully gain more velocity. I have two above average pitches now, and I feel my curve ball is really coming along to have three plus pitches."
