Bosh: Wade is Miami Heat's go-to player

"Controversial storylines involving the Heat seemed to swirl around the team constantly last season. This time around, the spotlight hasn't been nearly as harsh and bright. Until Friday, that is.

In an interview in this month's GQ magazine, Heat forward Chris Bosh said, all things considered, Dwyane Wade should be the team's go-to player in potential game-winning situations and not himself or LeBron James. His reasoning:

"Because of his success in the past, given what he's done. He's a champ. He's an MVP, and he's hit a bunch of last-second shots. That's the time you have to put pride aside a little bit, and do what's best for the team. He's quickest, and he's gonna get a shot off. He relishes those moments."

To be sure, it's a touchy subject, especially considering how much flack James has received for his less-than-himself performance in the 2011 NBA Finals. Still, Bosh stood by his comments on Friday morning during the Heat's shootaround at Denver's Pepsi Center.

"I tell the truth, and if somebody doesn't like it, then I can live with myself because I'm being honest," Bosh said. "You ask me my opinion, that's my opinion. Other people might have another opinion and if that's their opinion, then that's their opinion. That's great."

Bosh's words exploded nationally on Friday with ESPN dissecting the interview and other national media outlets also weighing in. Bosh downplayed the exposure and didn't see any reason for negative backlash.

"[People] are going to take it however they want," Bosh said. "If that's the case then I'm not going to be able to say nothing. I don't think anyone is. It's not really that big of a deal.""
