Bosh glad he avoided Dwight's dilemma

"Sunday, Chris Bosh will face the results of waiting-then-walking, when he faces the Toronto Raptors at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Wednesday, he will experience the fallout of warning-then-waiting, when the Miami Heat travel to play the Orlando Magic.

Each is a case study in the team-player dynamic in NBA free agency, be it Bosh's decision to allow free agency to run its course in 2009-2010 in Toronto or Dwight Howard's advance notice in Central Florida that he would be amenable to a franchise-salvaging trade in advance of his right to opt out of his contract this coming summer.

For Bosh, creating Dwight-style drama was an option never considered as his time was expiring in Toronto, if only because he envisioned much of what now seems to be tearing apart the Magic.

Bosh said full measure only can be taken in hindsight.

"I'm sure he'll look back at his situation that he was in and be like, 'Man, I probably could have handled X, Y and Z better,' which we all do that all the time," Bosh said of Howard. "But one thing I tried not to do was make it a subject of conversation myself. I knew that it was going be enough with everyone asking, because it's a piece of news. Everybody wants to know."
