Bonifacio tops Marlins in arbitration, gets $2.2 million

"Emilio Bonifacio became the second player in a week to beat the Miami Marlins in arbitration.

Coming off a breakout season, Bonifacio's camp successfully argued he deserved a $2.2 million salary this season instead of the $1.95 million the Marlins wanted to pay him. The speedy Bonifacio, who in 2011 made $425,000, likely will open the campaign as the club's starting center fielder.

Monday, starter Anibal Sanchez learned the three-person panel sided with him as well, awarding him $8 million instead of the club's $6.9 million offer."
