Wading through foggy conditions, even for those with a concentrated focus, tends to dull the senses.

But when the fog begins to break, it's clear sailing.

That has been the case with Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vinny Lecavalier the past couple of years. Bogged down with injuries, surgeries and countless rumors swirling around him and the franchise, Lecavalier's game looked lost at times. Whether he was worried about his surgically repaired shoulder, dealing with a nagging wrist ailment that required surgery or hearing he was about to be traded to his hometown Canadiens — the concerns took a toll.

All that seems to be in the past as Lecavalier enters tonight's game at Carolina with five goals — tied for fifth in the league — including a league-best three game-winning goals.
