There is a mystery on Revis Island.

Jets star cornerback Darrelle Revis did not practice Wednesday with what was listed as a groin injury on the official injury report.

Coach Todd Bowles did not mention the injury to his best player during his daily news conference, which occurred before the injury report was issued.

When asked for a clarification, the Jets declined, prompting speculation the injury could be serious. But NFL Network reported it is a minor groin injury.

Bowles is expected to address the injury Thursday.

The Jets’ decision not to provide any clarity on the situation makes you think the injury could be something serious, but it is possible the Jets are trying to keep the Eagles on their toes when it comes to formulating a game plan.

So is this gamesmanship or a crisis? No one is saying.

The only thing to go on is how forthright the Jets have been about injuries under Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan. Bowles has been fairly open about injuries and whether a player will play. For instance, running back Chris Ivory was on the injury report last week, but Bowles made it clear he would play. The decision to keep this secret could be a bad sign.
