Melky Cabrera, the free-agent outfielder who signed with Toronto after serving a drug suspension last year, is expected to meet the media after reporting to camp Friday morning.
Cabrera, who played for the San Francisco Giants last season, served a 50-game suspension after testing positive for elevated testosterone levels. He signed a two-year, US$16-million deal with the Blue Jays and is slated to be their everyday left-fielder.
Recent reports also said he was also listed in the records of a south Florida anti-ageing clinic known to have supplied performance-enhancing drugs to athletes.
