"Blue Jackets defenseman James Wisniewski was suspended for eight regular-season games and the remainder of the preseason by the NHL last night for a blow to the head of Minnesota's Cal Clutterbuck at the end of an exhibition game on Friday.
The suspension, handed down by NHL vice president of player safety Brendan Shanahan, will keep Wisniewski out of the lineup until Oct. 25 against the Detroit Red Wings in Nationwide Arena. It also will cost him $536,585.36, the equivalent of his salary for eight games. The money goes to the NHL players emergency assistance fund."
