"The Chicago Blackhawks placed captain Jonathan Toews on the injured list Tuesday and recalled center Brandon Pirri from Rockford of the American Hockey League.

Toews suffered an apparent left hand or wrist injury during Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators and will miss Tuesday night's rematch. By being placed on IR, Toews will miss a minimum of seven days -- something he would have done anyway with the NHL All-Star break beginning Wednesday for the Hawks.

After Tuesday's game at the United Center, the Hawks won't play again until Jan. 31 when they kick off a nine-game road trip in Vancouver."
