"Already mired in a four-game losing skid, the Chicago Blackhawks received more bad news Monday as forward Patrick Sharp will be sidelined 3-to-4 weeks with an upper-body injury.
Sharp was injured during the first period of the Hawks' 3-2 defeat to the Red Wings on Sunday night at the United Center. It's unknown when the actual injury occured, but Sharp was slashed across his left wrist by Detroit's Jiri Hudler just prior to scoring a goal.
"He's certainly had a good first half for us," coach Joel Quenneville said of Sharp, who has 20 goals and 20 assists in 42 games. "We have to check better and paying attention to detail and play tighter and off of that you might get more offense. When we think we have to outscore teams and everybody has to be the one who manufactures offense is when we expose ourselves. We want to make sure we're better defensively.""
