The NHL has disciplined Jannik Hansen, and we're still a day away from getting an update on Marian Hossa's status. In the interim, Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz offered his thoughts on Hansen's hit -- and his assessment was hardly favorable to Vancouver forward.

"It was just a cheap shot in any way you look at it," Wirtz said on WLS-890 AM wednesday. "There's no excuse for anyone to hit anyone in the head from behind.

Wirtz continued: "Any Doubting Thomas would say one way to slow the Hawks down was to take the guy who was playing really well out."

Before the hit, Hossa scored two goals, giving him eight on the season. He previously suffered a concussion when Phoenix forward Raffi Torres took him out during the Stanley Cup Playoffs last April, and was only cleared to return to the ice in November.
