"Despite saying that he wasn't going to crack any jokes about Patrick Kane because of his fractured left wrist, Jonathan Toews couldn't resist.
"Everyone says how Kaner has been buffing up. I don't see it," Toews said. "But I guess he's been working hard this summer. So that's good."
Kane, who looked noticeably bigger, said having wrist surgery Tuesday and recovering for up to eight weeks wasn't "that big of a setback" for his offseason training. But it could be.
"He's gotten bigger, but I don't know if he'll be able to keep working at that pace to keep that size on him," coach Joel Quenneville said. "Each and every year I've been here he's gotten bigger in the summer."
Kane hopes to focus on other exercises while his wrist recovers, and he didn't sound discouraged."
